Thinking about getting new lights

That fixture is way more than enough light for your 72g tank! In fact, you won't even be running it at 100% power it's so strong. I had 2 almost exactly the same over a 180g tank for 5 years and grew lots of sps corals.

You say you have it 1" from the top. Is that 1" from the top of the tank? or 1" off the top of the canopy (if you use one)? And I assume it has 90 degree lenses on the leds (that's what mine had).IMHO this light should be 6" to 12" off the water to get good end to end coverage as well as out into the bow front. And I'd recommend you set the white channel at 30% and the blue channel at 60% to start. After you get comfortable with it and some coral, you may want to bump up the blue a bit more. I ended up running mine at 40% white and 90% blue for 4 or 5 hours with 4 hours of sunrise and 4 more at sunset.

I hope that helps?

Please read my original post. I wrote 1' (1 foot) above the water. I was asking mainly for spectrum reasons. I am not sure if you meant the current light I have is more than enough or the kessils I was thinking about replacing the led with would be better spectrum and coverage wise. I basically already do what you stated for the led bar with regards to intensity.
