Thinking about giving bangi's a go

I am in the process of moving and taking the time to rebuild my 56 gallon reef tank.

I am thinking about dedicating it to bangii cardinals. No other fish.

What are your suggestions on getting broodstock?

I have read up on them several times and know it is impossible to sex them. Most say put a group together and wtch for a pair to form.

So, should I add say, 6 to the tank, and pull the rest out when they pair?

Thoughts, tips, suggestions?

I would think adding 6 to a tank might lead to aggression between them and maybe prevent pairing up. 3 or 4 might be a better number to start with, or maybe two tanks with 3

No one in the club has any. They have been pretty scarce in these parts as the wild cuaghts have such a poor survival rate. But knowone in the area has stepped up to breeding them.

I went to a lfs that has tank raised banggais for sale. I was able to get a mated pair, paid $90 bucks for them. They also have proven egg-laying pairs for sale as well!

i have 4 in my tank and 2 of them paired up right away ... they chase the other 2 off when they come near their area of the tank ... now it appears the larger one is carrying something in his mouth ... he hasnt eaten in 3-4 days now and shows no interest ... i have only had my bangai's for about a month now ... if he is carrying eggs what do i do to help them babies survive? i have 1 blood shrimp, 2 cleaner shrimps and a sally lightfoot ... i am worried they will catch and eat the babies since they are so small at birth ... although i have been fortunate with my sally lightfoot it has been very peaceful towards all tank mates thus far ... any tips or ideas?

Is it true that pairs only reproduce for a year or two? Would it be risky to purchase a "proven pair" unless you knew their age, for certain?
