thinking about removing my Pod hood

Back to the habit
So I have the 24Pod with PCs, I didn't get the 70MH unit because I felt that if I go MH, I would go with something like a 150 or 250 (I ran a 250 on my 29bow successfully for 3 years.

So the question is, I was thinking about removing the hood to my 24 Pod and doing the Current Sun Pod 150.

Any thoughts?

I should have taken the cover off before I filled the tank but now it's in the corner and I just can't get it to come off. Instruction said tilt cover up 90 degrees and slide it out but I tried sliding it up, in and out but it won't come off. Space is too tigh to get 2 people in the corner now. If you figure out how to get it off please let me know (such as is there something to push or pull).

As to MH, I'm running Odyssea 175W HQI 20,000k bulb, two 24W compact fluorescent actinic blue bulbs, two blue moon LED. I'd it installed since last Sunday night and running for 5 hours a day, the white sand is getting a little brown but green and red hair algae growing on the rock. With the cover open the temp only been going up about 1 degree (normal at 76.7 with MH 77.8) and last night I had it on for 10 hours and the temp remained the same.

I only have the LS & LR in the pod for only 11 days but can say since I installed the MH the rocks have really come to life.

One thing I haven't figured out is the orange sponge I've on the rock was very smooth when I first got it but now I start to see openings like a organ pipe, does this mean it's dying? Anyone?

Good luck with your tank.

If you can go topless I would do it. (I'm just stuck with the hood or I would have gone with the 150 as well)
I popped the hood off a few times, without issue. Just take a good look at the hinges and it sould be clear to you just what direction to push it. Be crareful with the first hinge, the second will come out much easier.

thanks guys, i think I'll be doing that in the next couple of weeks. Flame, do you have a pic of the spoonge? most sponges in a system don't fair well, but some do surprisingly well, so a pic would probably give people here a better idea of what you have and where it's going.

I'll try to put the picture up on sunday night as I need to learn how to resize and how to post them here. If you've some tips on this I would greatly appreciate them. Thanks.

you can resize to 475 X 356, this is pretty much what I use to post pics onto the forum.
