Currently running a 65g mixed reef....all levels are stable. Current tankmates are a percula clown, foxface rabbitfish, canary wrasse, coral beauty, maroon clown, Sailfin Tang and a Spotted Mandarin. Any suggestions that would co-exist well? None are aggressive toward each other currently....unless you go near the maroon's carpet nem...then he gets a bit frantic...thanks

You're fully stocked IMO. Also, you're going to want to remove either the percula clown or the maroon. While they may coexist now, they won't for long. The maroon WILL kill the percula eventually. Lastly, the sailfin tang is going to get much too big for a 65 gallon tank. They get to about a foot long and require a minimum tank size of 240g and 8' in length.

I would remove the sailfin tang and the maroon clown, get yourself another percula, and go from there.

I had heard differeing things about the clowns...thanks for the info...as for the Sailfin, rather than upgrading, I was planning on adding a second larger tank...feel like I've learned so much from the first and have so many "if I could have done things differently from the outset" thoughts....maybe I'll be able to move him over there. He is still only a couple inches long for now...Thanks for the feedback to you both

and btw, the Sailfin Tang recommended by the LFS before being exposed to forums such as these...another one of those lessons learned

Some lessons are learned the hard way, but at least you learned. If it were me i would try to get him out of there just cause they are one of the tangs i would say need a huge tank. You are for sure done with the stocking my friend, even if you took the sailfin out im not sure i would add another one man! JMO

Frankly, the foxface will also need a bigger tank than a 65. They grow pretty fast and will get as big (and produce as much waste) as a lot of tangs.

It takes a while before you have a feel for these things. It also takes a while before you feel confident enough to realize that you're getting bad advice from the LFS. The best remedy is just to read, read, read.

When my Foxface was in my 90 it would hide and be ****ed all the time. In my 210 it eats from my fingers. The difference in behavior is startling.

If you put the maroon, sailfin and foxface in another tank you could look at a shrimp/goby pair. Generally gets along with tankmates and adds a lot of personality in a small package IME.
