This carpet look ok?

Just got this yesterday. He moved only a few inches since then, seems settled now.
His mouth area seems like it should be covered more, or is this fairly normal looking?
Thanks for the help

Looks good to me. haddoni's can control those bald spots around their mouth to adjust the amount of light that reaches the zooxanthellae below. I wouldn't worry to much about it, unless the bald spots start spreading. At that point, I would just increase the amount of light its getting.

Thanks for the insight!
Yep, he was thwarting inward and such yesterday, now he's doing good...at least I think.
FWIW, I tried putting him on the bottom where the most light hits, but he moved a few inches away. I'm running 6 T5's on a std. 75g...from my readings, this should be fairly decent for him?

In case of more balding, I'll just ask now...is it worth a shot to try and place him midway up in the tank on a large rock/crevice? Everything I read said they prefer sand, but seems like in pictures they are placed/or move about anywhere.

I wanted a LTA< but this guy looked REALLY good, just awesome in my tank.

IMO,looks healthy.Looks like it has good color and looks like it has a pretty tight mouth!Would likee to see up dated pics often!

Hey, will do clowns! I got him and a pair of percs at the same time, hope they all get along an dhost. Been over 5 years since I've bought a fish, over 15 since I had an anenome!
I'd guess it is around 8-10" now

WOW!Glad to see that ya getting back into the buying and purchasing if fish and anemones!I think that the anemone should host the clowns rather fast! But depends on the anemone alone!Dont try to force a host as the anemone host might eat the fish.Only thing to ever use and will only use this practice is....time.Time is the key to reef keeping and more so with the clownfish and anemone part of the hobby!

Ha, yep...had a 140 explode 5 years ago, then sump on our 125 began to leak several months later...needless to say...this 75 was left alone with a few fish and few hardy corals and minimal maintence...few weeks ago we're back at it more than ever! Looking to move up to acylic when we find the right one:>)

The clowns were actually hosting in a HUGE LTA at the LFS, the thing would have taken up 1/3 of my tank I think.

So, if indeed this carpet doesn't seem to be happy within the next few days, should I try to move him higher in the tank?

some IMHO tips...

don't touch...I have totally given up saying "this is or that is the perfect place for this anemone"...the more you bother them, the more they will decide to move elsewhere...I literally put them in my tank, in the general area I hope they will stay, and then NEVER touch them again...they will be happier and you will be happier...

They can literally be settled for months and then decide to move on...usually towards powerheads or pump intakes...

Provide very good flow...feed once a week...quit believing you know better where they belong than they do...enjoy!!!

I am going to have to disagree with this part. IME (( Keeping Haddonis for 11 years )) they are not found of "very good flow". That is one of the easiest ways to get a haddoni to move -- ad additional flow.

I got a carpet a few weeks ago. Took my clown about two weeks to take to it. I was beginning to think it wouldn't happen. Its really cool when it does.

One thing I have learned is that every once in a while it'll look a little deflated. I guess that is expels water to dispose of waste, but perks back up shortly.

I'm not an expert, but I have noticed that mine has partially tucked itself under and overhang in my LR. I assume because it was trying to get away from flow, guess it could be related to the light also.

It could be from either one. Mine will retract a bit more if the flow is too much.

Since yours is new, it could be either one. What lights was it under, and what lights do you have? Did you acclimate it to your lights? I always use 3 layers of window screening, with removing one layer every 5-7 days.

uh oh, losing color this AM! If his color was 10 before, it is now say a 6-7. He is under a ledge halfway, fully opened up.
ANything about losing the color I need to know?

I have a new T5 setup, 48x6 (3 &3).
No, I didn't acclimate it to the lights, yikes! I do have eggcrate on top, that might diffused some?
I thought these liked extreme light?
