This was drawn up by Doug so I could finally start a tank thread. I am not quite there yet, but it seems like every day, I decide on another part of my build.

I hope this works :) If so, I guess it really means that might have to do this.

I will be working on reinforcing my floors over the next week. I put the order in today so if I plan this right, I will go and pick it up the last weekend of Feb.

Now the fun begins :D

No closed loop. I don't really believe in drilling my tanks when most people change tanks every couple of years. Besides that, with all the other devices on the market, I decided to keep my tank leakfree. :)

Thanks Chris for the offer.

72 x 24 x 24. It is a 180 being manufactured by Lee Mar. I am doing starfire on three sides and I will be painting the back black. I have two holes being drilled in the eurobracing for my motion device returns.

Sounds like its gonna be sweet. Why black on the back im just curious? Black is a light dampner. Why not like a sea blue or something that will amplify the light?

Because when you put a black background on the tank, I think the colors standout better than a blue. I will have plenty of lighting as I going to use a 72" maristar. I have the 48" version on my 90 and I get some really good colors with it.

Black or Blue is a personal thing. Thats all.

Thanks David. I am going out today looking at wood for my stand. I also need to get started on my sump design. I have a couple ideas, but we'll see.

I agree 100%. I have the "sea blue" know and while it's nice, nothing makes color pop like a black background.

tagging along....

Black backgrounds vs Blue vs none? It doesn't effect the rest of the light hitting the coral. The light would most likely be of such poor quality and intensity, it wouldn't be worth it. The light that would be reflected in the first place, or not, would make minimal, (not to mention impossible to quantify), impact on overall coral health to quantify.

Black, Blue, Pink, or Yellow backgrounds are for personal preference, not performance.

BTW, the drawings look good online, quit stalling and do a real thread!!!

Nice, I'd love to hit a 180 or a 220 but due to finances and lifestyle hinder that plan. Which is why I've downgraded to a 37 cube from a 100.
