Very very cool, that would be a dream tank for me to do a in wall set-up... Maybe one day I will get it going, but not untell I move into a house, a setup like that wouldn't work in a apartment. Great looking so far, keep up the good work, and will be following along.

I spent all weekend installing the (4) 1 1/2" drains using flex PVC and ran them out the wall of the tank room and into a outdoor shed that is going to house the sump, chiller, R/O unit, and calcium reactor. It was a chore getting the plumbing through the wall. I had to go through a cinder block support wall and then through a layer of brick to make a small hole to feed the four pipes. I am going to feed the pipes into the sump tomorrow and try and hook up my Sequence Barracuda. I am also starting to make the r/o water so I can start filling the tank tomorrow. I plan on moving the contents of my old tank next week.
I am going to be getting rid of a couple of fish so if anyone is interested let me know. The fish are:

Mitratus Butterfly
Male Crosshatch Trigger 7"

I had offered the trigger on this forum previously but was not able to catch him. I figured this would be the best time if any. If any of you are interested in these fish let me know. The window to pick them up on Saturday will be small as I plan on moving all of my rock, coral and other fish within a 2 hour span.
I will post pics of the new tanks progress tomorrow.

Here are the latest pics showing the work done so far. I have all of the drains run to the tank and hooked up the pump to the sump. I plan on running the returns to the tank and hooking up the Shuran Reactor tomorrow. Hopefully my waveboxes and new skimmer come in this week so I can have everything up and running for the move this weekend. As you can see I am already starting to make water.

Not to be a wise guy, but you should have used union-ball valves on both the in and out of the pump. You'll curse the day you have to remove that pump for any reason.

Lighting - Sliding Rail
Does anyone know where I can readily find hardware to make a sliding rail system for for my light system. I have a 8'l x 3'w x 18"h aluminum angle frame that I house 8 metal halides. Given the lack of clearance I have from the top of the tank to the top of the light housing I want to be able to attached the housing to the ceiling by way of a track system. The ideal result would be to be able to move the lights out of the way but still keep them attached to the ceiling so I can easily access the tank for cleaning and then slide the light housing back in place.
Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

the rail system sounds great and I know they make such a thing but I am not sure exactly who makes it. I think I remember talking to chris at finz about them once but it could have been john at ichthy.
I see you bought the reactor from him very good move I love mine. it is very different from any other I have seen but in several good ways.
i see you are also getting a wavebox and probably extension. would it be possible for me to come check them out I have been debating one for a long time but not sure about noise so I keep putting it off.
if you have to remove the pump put a 90 inside the sump facing up and stick a piece of pipe in it out of the water and you only lose the water in the pipe. I wanted to save room so I did the same thing and it is easy enough to do this way.
plan on more than 2 hours. more like 8 nothing ever goes right does it?

Rob, why bother with the 90 in the sump? There is a ball valve on the inlet side already. I'm talking about having to remove the pump from the system. The final connections to the pump are pipe threads with glue socket ends attached to the PVC tube and the Spa-Flex. How do you disconnect either line that is already attached to the pump??

I was planning on just cutting the PVC between the ball valve and the pump and them just installing a PVC joint in the event I have to replace the pump. Your are right in that it would have been easier to just install a union-ball valve but I didn't have one available to me at the time.

I will let you know when the waveboxes are up and running and I would happy to have you stop by and check them out. I am also curious to see how noisy they are but the tank in an inwall setup so hopefully it will dampen the noise.

well cut and couple or install a union. I meant more the ball valves sorry I didn't even see unions weren't there. I have a 90 in my sump at all times to keep it from sucking air. my depth in the sump is 8 inches so I have to have one. all I have to do is spin my 90 and insert the pipe. ball valves are better I was just saying what I do since this is already done.
that would be awesome to see them in action. you need a couple oh finz big acro's in there.

Well I did it! I got all of my live rock, fish and corals moved over to the new tank. Unfortunetly I lost a couple of coral colonies and frags and my beloved Leopard Wrasse. When I started moving everything over he buried himself in the sand and by the time I found him he was dead.
Here are some photos I took shortly after I moved everything. The water has not cleared up 100% and I haven't added the additional row of lights, which I plan on doing early next week. I will post new pics one everything is in place.

The sizing of that tank is going to make a wonderful enviroment. plus the full length overflow will allow processing of such a large amount of surface water!! I'm envious I need to have one just like it

Thanks for all of the comments. I just finished transfering the sand from the old tank and made it even cloudier.
I actually plan on running an other line of live rock about 1' from the front of the tank all the way down the length of the tank stacked 1/2 as high as the back rock wall. I have always been envious of OREGONREEFS.com's setup and wanted to do something similar. I hope to be able to look down the side and see a channel of sand between the two rock walls. I just need to buy the rock which will take some time.
