This is all thats left of my once prized Emerald Mummy Eye. Ameasly 3 eyes which havent even recovered yet, it finally stopped shedding tissue but that dosent even mean that it wont start again

"Lazy and complacent"??

How on earth could someone with a screen name like Treesmoker wind up being lazy and complacent?! :-)

Seriously, your before and after pics brought back memories of my tank's Summer of Doom... but based on personal experience, I can tell you that Ken is right - there IS hope for your frag (not a lot, but I have several pieces in my tank now that dwindled to fingernail size during that summer, so don't give up hope).

Nate, how is your tank doing? I think that chalice will come back with some patience and care.

Jeff, I do have a piece of that chalice with 5 eyes so soon it will look just like that :D btw, so when are you gonna come back to reefing?

just for the rest of us who haven't done this for years....what can you do when/ if this happens to a frag? I've just checked my water, done a water change, target fed and watched it close. How do you think it happened? Too close to light did it bleach?

Shane, I would check for anything surrounding that might be stinging the coral, look at similar corals to see if they are showing the same sign, check salinity, water parameter, too little or too much flow, electrical current inside the tank, look for algea buildup because of phosphate high nutrient, too much light then move the coral lower, ph, alk swing, etc. Most of the time it is all about consistent tank maintenance and patience. That chalice will come back if the tank is kept stabled.

Yeah I can hear the moan and groan all the way in Windsor ... LOL ... you guys should come to the Christmas party anyway to hang out with us.
