This is why I really hate names on these polyps.

The now famed Purple hornets that people have started talking about... just like the " TRUE ORANGE PEOPLE EATERS "....

Come on people, now I've seen it....

$1000 for 5 freakin polyps? Are you FN' serious.

Check ebay if you don't believe me. Not trying to bag on who ever's the sellers but geez, $1000 for 5 polyps 3/4ths of a CM in size?????? Talk about trying to cash in while the iron's hot EH?

I guess the enonomy is not going to SHYYYT like I thought it was?

With a bit of research and looking around, you can find them much cheaper.

Someone will probly pick these guys up though. 1 polyp was sold on ebay a couple days ago for $300 or somthing like that.

I guess (as far as ebay goes) that price is not sooo bad. Comes out to $200 a polyp, and its a larger colony than a single polyp and will probly propogate faster to sell faster (if thats what your trying to do to make money)

With a bit of time, this price will be nonexistant, and will be gotten for more like $30 a polyp.

I beleive even without a name, these guys would sell for crazy prices, although the previous years of nameing probly have inflated that price drastically. Its all about supply and demand of a rare to see (although not as rare as some think) zoa polyp.

With some time, the prices will come down, and anyone that wants one will have the oppertunity to obtain them with relitive ease.

Let the ones willing to pay the price get them spread out in the reefing community. Sit back and wait. The price wont last long I beleive.

They are a trully amazing color and deseigned zoa. I will have these some day, but not at these prices for sure.

I don't have a problem with this price at all. Why? Because I'm not buying it. Although it would be cool if someone actually buys this frag just to see how high up the price will go. :D

Yeah i hear you.I was just posting and talking about that same post on ebay.I love how there are other reefers that half to way over benefit from the rest of us instead of being a hobbiest. What is this hobbie coming too.And if the people that pay that much were smart.Like sir patrick said you can search and find them for much cheaper.I did. That one thet sold for $305.00 on ebay last week, was the first time i seen these. And in the last week i was able to find multiple sellers and dozens of people that have these already and have had them for a year or more.

they are really cool looking, and before i heard of this price [just now] i was going to try to trade for/buy some. But i'll just wait till the craze is over. In the end, i really just care what I like, so i get what i like when other people have decided to stop liking them hahaha.

The average that i can find is 30 to 50 for a single polyp and the more polyps you tend to buy the cheaper the price gets per polyp.

What's the average price on these (& no, I'm not selling mine)?

Alright, where' the 305$ polyp?? Crazy, & I think over 20$ a polyp is insane. I would love to have these reefers paychecks!! But sure as H E double hockey sticks wouldn't spend it on insanely priced zoas just because it's the new craze. I wonder how they justify this. Just like Sir Patrick said....the prices will come down in some time.

Jeeze, what drives it? The rarety or the bragging rights. Look what I got and you don't....neener neener.

You win, you're the best!

Come on! Do they look nice, do they make you happy for some reason? Thats why I buy. Not, do they make me cooler, yet poorer than you.

I like them but don't like them enough to spend over $30 for 1 polyp that can dissolve on you the next day. I rather spend that on a SPS or LPS frag that I can frag to save if it RTN/STN's.

These polyp price rages are the type of things that drive folks away from zoanthid keeping. Price per polyp etc. Shoot I sell my PD's/NG's for 15-20 depending on price on how many is bought. Last time I sold a 6-7 polyp NG for $50-$60

My frame of reference is always SPS. I generally sell frags for less than I originally bought them for. #1 having more out in the community makes em easier to get back if there's a mishap. #2 if I sell 2, 3, 4 frags for less than the price of the original, hasn't it paid for itself?. I'm not trying to drive prices down, usually I sell them as combos. If I have a high end frag, I'm frank about the cost, but if they buy a few more common frags with it, price comes down. #3, the reef hugger in all of us would agree, spreading the wealth on aquacultured specimens takes a little of the weight off of mother nature.

FWIW I just bought my PD's 2 weeks ago. 9 polyps-$45. I don't plan on selling any, I just like the way they look.

anyone have any good pictures of these?

Do they look like this?

The bragging rights, of course. :)
