This just in...Tahitian c. Claire Wrasse!!!

Hey everyone,

I thought I'd give an update on my Claire's. They're doing quite well and have settled in nicely with everyone. I feel that since they're comfortable in their new homes, their colors are more vibrant now. They're still not as outgoing as my Earli's but do venture out from my rock work more often.

One thing I noticed is that the dominant/male Claire has black pelvic fins where the female has clear/white pelvic fins. Here are some pics of the female:

And the male (notice the black pelvic fins):

This is the best picture I could get of the pair together:

Once the other fish saw that I was taking pics, they started photo-bombing:

I thought this was a cool picture with the Earli's out of focus:

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the pics. Hopefully my next pics will be of the male turning into a supermale!

Wow. Amazing pictures. Thanks for sharing. You've got the dream team in there - Claire, Femininus, Gem, Bandit. Just awesome.

What are those pink/purple wrasses in the last picture?

I live a few hours north of you, but I go down to the LA area occasionally for work. Would you be willing to give me a tour some day?

Brett, those are the spot lighted Claire's wrasse pair in the thread title.
Add to his dream team...the famed G. Personatus

Wow wonderful stuff. Couple of questions. Did you run QT for new Wrasse? Also is that HLLD on the Gem? If so any ideas on what causes it or what mayor caused it? Hard to imagine that conditions weren't ideal for the gem looking at the others. Thx

I personally didn't but Karen did for me for about a month before they were shipped out to me. Since I trust her protocols a million times than I trust my own, I only observed them for about a week before I let them go in my display tank.

Yes, I've had my Gem for a long time, since my last system's tank failure. He's been moved around from holding to holding tank (most without any live rock and/or algae for him to graze on) waiting for this current tank to be completed, cycled, etc. and he obviously didn't like some of the conditions and developed lateral lines. He's healed quite nicely though. It's mostly only visible near his eye sockets now. Hopefully he'll recover 100%.

Karen can you comment on your qt protocol for wrasses please?
