A DIY "In Sump" Kalk Stirrer

Admittedly, I skimmed the thread but did not see anything that really said it was harmful to use longterm.

Even if a build up of anything were to slowly happen, I would think water changes would help to negate any negative effects as well.

People have been topping their tanks off with kalkwasser for years now.

Sonic: This tank is just being set up. No kalk in it yet. The RO/DI water feed tube was also not hooked to it. It was a "staged photo".

KALK precipitates chemicals .. there for unless the kalk slurry is added to the tank any trace elements that are "bad" do not make it into the tank

i also hope taht your not running salt water throu that as it can precipitate the mag out of it

Oh no, I wouldn't do that. When I do hook it up it will get hooked up like it is on my other tank. My RO/DI top off water feeds the stirrer which pushes the "center" portion of water within the stirrer out and into the sump.

I've tested it. It doesn't leak. It stands as much chance of leaking as a 500 gal acrylic tank sitting on a stand has of leaking. I feel pretty confident that it won't leak.

ahhh its going to leak now come on chucky dont be shy tell us its going to leak lol see ya this weekend to pick mine up you did get it done didnt you....
