What: Conference on Underwater A.R.T.(Artificial Reefs in Tourism)

Goals of the Conference include:
1. establish guidelines for the placement of near-shore diving attractions
2. establish a Reefbuilders Wreck-cognition Award
3. establish the South Beach Underwater Park and Snorkeling Trail
4. Begin the process of restoring the natural reef that once thrived
east of 5th Street & Ocean Drive
Marker Buoy:
Prior to the conference, five mooring buoys will be placed in the
South Beach Artificial Reef Area by Miami-Dade County's Department of Environmental Resources Management (DERM). One buoy will be adjacent to the underwater bar, marking its location. One will be placed in each corner of the protected area, which extends south from 5th Street to the seawall.
I always thought they should place rocks offshore in the keys to create artificial reefs for shore diving and snorkeling.
