I know this sounds crazy but here it is.....So this is the 2nd time my RBTA has done this........I've had this nem for about a year now, it has always thrived in my tank........it's about 10" or so in diameter, I have a gold stripe maroon that takes grat care of it.....so now to the point of my post......about 2 months ago it split, I was def. releived because it was getting a little too big for comfort, well I woke up the next morning & it was back to 1 anemone....so yesterday morning, about 8 a.m. I notice it's splitting again, I left for work & when I got home sure enough 2 anemones, then about an hour or so later the larger part split again for a total of 3 RBTA............well guess what, this a.m. I woke up & there it was, ONE anemone!! I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if anyone has any links with more info......... I know it sounds crazy but it DEFINATELY went from 3 back to 1 & again, this is the 2nd time it's done this......I'm searching online but as of yet have not been able to find any info. at all.......I just want to reiterate; I'm not crazy, the anemone definately fused back together.......

I wish I did, I do have a pre split picture & a pic of when it split into two but their on my cell phone & the quality is crappy.........if it splits again i will make sure to take pics, I know it's so crazy sounding that pics are pretty much a must.........

Are you sure it was absolutely completely split? I've heard of bta's starting the split, then discontinuing on rare occasions, but never of two, or even three, bta's essentially merging. I know it's a dumb question, but have you searched the rocks, overflow, and sump? I've had clones end up in some pretty odd places that it doesn't seem like they should be able to get to.

100% positive it was split & I did check everywhere, I could tell just by size but I did check everywhere....

My GBTA went through a similar cycle, although it did not completely split before it fused back together, there was a tiny string of tissue holding it together. A year later it finally finished the job, clone split several weeks later and I now have 3. No sign of them trying to get back together, plus I've moved one to a different location to make removal easier in anticipation of selling it.

Here's a link to the thread I started on the subject - includes photos, not the best, but gives some idea of the contortions the thing went through.

Ha, ha, woke up this morning, checked the tank and the 'mother' BTA has split again, this time in very short order and only about two months after the first split. Now I have 4! The latest clone looked a little stretched and I though like it might split right away, but now it looks like it's puffing up into a 'normal' shape. It's nem city in my 77, crazy creatures these things.
