This was thought out well

Short story, set up my 150h with wet dry sump, protien skimmer u.v. light and all. Recently, I have converted the wet dry to a refugium. That is all good and well but it just doesn't do it quite rite, although since changing, tank is 180 to the good. I was thinking of replaceing it with a 50gal diy refugium, no problem right? Well, when I set up my tank I had put the sump in first, thru the back, before I put it against the wall. Does not fit the door holes. Does anyone know David Copperfields #. If not, ideas are welcome or you might be seeing a slightly used wet dry for sale that needs minor epoxy job. lol (Have sawsall). Starting to think about it and found out that I am going to need a exrtaction plan. Thanks alot.

i read on a few web sites that people took there doors off the stand and made kind of like a table to brace the stand and tank and removed the center brace to slide there sump in. if that makes any sense. ill try and find where that was because i know they showed pictures.

I had to do this exact same thing... here is what I did. I probably shouldn't have done it this way but it worked well for me.

I added a 20g refugium under my 75g awhile back so of course the tank wouldn't fit through the doors so I... cut a peice of 1" PVC to take the place of the center vertical brace on the front of the stand. I cut it just a hair longer than it needed to be. I wedged it under the front of the stand and off to the left. I then just used a rubber mallet to pound out the center brace. The PVC held just fine. I didn't notice any movement or stress on the rest of the stand. I installed the fuge then I put the center brace back in. It was held in by pretty much heavy duty staples... so I just removed those and used brass wood screws along with liquid nails to reinstall the brace. Everything worked out just fine and the stand it still standing strong two years later.

You may need to do something a little different for a 150... but bracing it in a similar fashion should work for you. Maybe some of the general contractors/construction guys could chime in with their two cents! Goodluck!
