Thorny Oyster

Does anyone have any experience with Thorny Oysters? A friend of mine collected a few when diving a few years ago and they did well for a while and then withered away. They had beatiful black and white mantels. I noticed that the wholesale price at my LFS was pretty pricey.

Thanks for the link. I am curious about the short lived part. Do you mean short lived in captivity or short lived in nature? I have seen several very large ones (12-18") myself when diving.

A friend of mine got one of them for $5-10 bucks at the LFS, It was in the live rock tank, I kept telling him, get that piece, get that piece it looks cool... Sure enough darn thing was alive, he's had it for maybe 5 months now

Well sad update, my thorny died about 3 days ago. I won't be getting another one.

I am sorry to hear that. A lot of folks have told me they can be up there in difficulty with Flame Scallops.
