Thoughts on glass chip

Hello all,

I found a ~500 gallon tank for sale that I am seriously considering. Dimensions are 96 x 48 x 24 (478.8 gallons).

The tank is rimless, and along the top of one of the 96" panels is this pair of chips.

Glass is 3/4".

What do you guys think? Too risky?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Well it has great dimensions. Don't know anything about glass but I would ask a professional tank builder to make sure it's okay.

How thick is the glass? I would totally ask a pro. Personally I'd eurobrace a tank that large. That's a LOT of water. I LOVE the dimensions though. That's dream tank dimensions:thumbsup:

I would ask Exotic about the euro brace and sealing that chip.

Also, where is the chip? If it's on a side panel maybe you could get that entire panel replaced. If it's the front panel i'd replace it with starphire. Ofcourse.. depending on what you pay for the tank.

I tend to be the paranoid type, if it were me I would look into replacing that panel ~500 gallons is a lot of water to have spill if it fails. Again, I tend to be paranoid and play it safe...but at the very least I'd check with a tank builder for some input

oooooooo this tank is a real beauty i hope it works out for you because i want to see a bad to the bone tank thread
