thoughts on kessil A150 Led...

it would be a nicer design if you can route the wiring inside the gooseneck tube, the current design makes it look like an ikea light.

Never mind the light, is that GSP you "trained" around the bottom of your tank. Nice job Frick!

Yeh it's my GPS bed, it's kind of out of control right now. I have to scrape away sheets off the front every now and then.

That would have been nice, I heard others say that too.

yeah the GPS bed is nice!
the cord thing is an issue for sure, but look at the AL sol lights each module has one too.

I do think that Kessil is a company to keep in mind for sure, as they make a big splash in the aquarium industry...

as fair as me getting a couple more my tank On one hand I really like the design and over all look of them. but on the other hand if I have to get three for a 75 I might at well just go with AL sol for two or three hundred more....

good thing I have a couple more months to decided. maybe some more people will get some and have first hand experience before i jump on it...

I will be "attempting" 2 on my 90. I figure that I will have to LED light strip supplement the otusides a bit, but we will see. Even if i end up doing 3, i figure that it will end up being well worth it in the end.

I will post my results after i get them and have them running for a bit.

I meant GSP bed not GPS. lol

I saw saw a thread that I though was on RC about a guy putting 6 of them on a 90. It looked great. Four would have done it I think. Two would have covered the bottom but probably wouldn't be bright enough for most corals. If you supplement with two you definitely have something to work with.

yikes now end of july? The 2 I have on pre order went from mid june to end of june to early july... now I'm reading end of july here :(? I guess the demand for their products in general are very high that they are being pushed back so much. Crossing my fingers on july...

got mine!

got mine!

I have 2 units but only using one over this 30x30 cube tank 18inch depth. The shimmer is unlike anything I have ever seen. I have only added some zoa frags from my main tank so far but I have never seen them open like they have been under this light. this is the 15k and I admit I'm sold on the beauty. I will follow up with more corals as I add them

I'm planning to use 2 A150's as supplemental lighting on my 90 gallon reef, once they come available.

They will replace my 55 watt power compacts, which I currently have in the center of my light canopy. My 2 250 watt metal halide's will remain on ends of my canopy.

Once the A 350's come to market, that will surly be a game changer. Add dimmable capability to the A 350 and it's over for most of the other manufactures.

I've seen the A 150's at my LFS and these LED fixtures packs a punch.

thanks for the update guys...as they become available more ppl will get them and hopefully post pics and feedback. hint hint wink wink...:)

They are out now but if you get them anywhere they will more than likely put you on a waiting list. Kessil is still having difficulties mass producing the units. So only a case(15 lights) is being offered to each vender at a time. From what I have been told from David at Kessil the mass shipment of the fixtures will not show for another 5 weeks.

I added some more SPS to the 29 BioCube I have the Sky Blue(10K) over. The polyps are nice and fuzzy so we'll see how it turns out.

extra

extra

I have an extra 15k if anybody is interested. Best offer I can mail it out. I think my one 15 is good enough for now. Maybe i will mix a 10k in with it later when they are available.

Hmmm tempting but I have a a couple more months before I can setup anyway so I am going to see what ppl that have them think for a few months.
BTW PM a price if you want.:)

Please update us on how it look on your tank!!! I am looking aat LEDs for my 72 bow front.

Wow, those are nice lookng lights. Are there any sponsors carrying them at the moment?

Also, does anyone know how many watts the A350's will be?

Thanks

can we get a FTS? would love to see the spread on your 30x30 tank...

Oh BTW called marine depo they said they are getting a shipment in first week of august.
and they run a little more blue in there opinion and would ad 2-3K the the K rating..so a 10K looks more like a 13K...
anyone else support this thought?

I was gonna say, two on a 30 might be overkill, but i have never seen it for my self.

I'm asumming the A-350 will be 96 watts as their H-350 is 96 watts right now.

Randy

The unit should be 96watts with a 90 of those watt running the LED. But development is still in action, so we'll see.

I agree with that. The 10K IMO would be a more of a 12K, the 15K looks more 18K-20K and the Deep Blue is just blue. But I am basing my opinion on relative halide spectrums. And we all know how wacky that can be.

I'm going to put some links up in a minute for you guys to see. One is a video. Keep in mind the light isn't even 1 foot above the water... Covers it almost entirely :) I have no clue how the spread is so good but if you have a variety of corals / various lighting needs it could be nice! I have 3 frags in there from my own display tank i put in and i'm acclimating them to this new light slowly but everything seems to be doing great. thats BRS reef saver rock in there and the light is clamped to the corner overflow for now. Judge for yourself? I think the shimmer looks beautiful. The video is pretty accurate! I haven't even taken the second unit out of its box yet... This one seems adequate with maybe a stunner strip? I have been working to much lately. I will try to go pickup some LPS / SPS frags tonight and see how the light works out. still in limbo on buying the mp40's.. I have two mp10's but this glass was to thick so I have them on my corner tank in the living room. So right now is just a koralia and 2 maxi on the wavemaker mode connected to the reefkeeper.
