Thoughts on these anemones? Sunbursts not looking so hot

CRW Reefer

Starting two days ago 3 of my large (10"+) sunbursts simultaneously started doing this. I have 4 other sunbursts and 1 rainbow also in the tank and they are all fine. Everything else in the tank (full mixed reef) looks perfect (sps even has PE).

Any thoughts on what's up? Anyone every see several nems expel all at one time?

No haven't checked a single parameter except for the salinity. Yes I know everyone is going to say what are your params? We cant help unless you tell us the params. Thing is like i suggested before everything in my full mixed reef looks great along with 5 other anemones.

Guessing its not Param issue, but maybe. Why you ask about ammonia and nitrate specifically vs others? Have you seen this happen before?

I agree with checking params. I have some bta's that are more touchy when there are param swings. I would also test for voltage.

Have you added any new nems lately?

I would recommend finding a new spot for at least a couple of the sunburst until you figure it out. If you need someone to hold onto a couple, I would be happy to pay shipping :) lol

OK ya i will do a full test this weekend and report back. What I am mostly looking for is some insight as to if anyone has seen this type of behavior before.

Are they splitting, stressed from something, are they victims of chemical warfare, are they just fine and I am over reacting?

I would make sure you do not have a hairline crack in your halide bulb or glass-allowing a UV flare. I have seen this on rare occasion- but it can cause localized issues.

I had something similar when my nitrates spike to 40ppm for a few weeks before I started carbon dosing. And well ammonia is just bad no matter what.

just curious what ever happened to this nems? did they make out alright?

I just got rid of my 4, two of them did this and the other two were fine. I have not been able to find an explanation for this.

No unfortunately none made it out alive dang it! Still never found a cause or explanation. However the non-sunburst that was in there is alive and thriving!

Chemical warfare? I don't know....
