Three 30% water changes in three days

Is it safe to do this in a cycled reef tank? I have a fair amount of green hair algae from high phosphates I'd like to remove. I just installed new RO/DI filters and would like to get new water in and also rebalance the trace minerals.

Of course provide your basic chemistry matches aswell as temp. So like same or very similar alk, salinity, ph that sort of stuff.

no problems at all..
change all you want to get those nutrients down..
Most of the beneficial bacteria is clinging to the surfaces of the rock/sand and little is free floating in the water..

i agree with the above. but will add i have had better luck doing 50 to 60 percent then next day 30 then another 30..

but i know not everyone has that kind of water storage, especially for a larger tank

Agree with the above. I just had to get my nitrates down. 2-15 gallons and a 5 on a 40 gallon. Now im back in good position.

cutting back on lighting will help get rid of algae problems as well...10 hrs a day works
