Three new fish in QT: Potters Wrasse, Starry Blenny, Diamond Goby

Well, I purchased three new fish yesterday from Living Reef in Orlando. (I really like their shop BTW). They went into QT first thing yesterday. However the wrasse seemed to think he could squeeze through one of the hole in some egg crate I have in there. To my surprise he did, but not without injury. Everyone else is very happy and well.

He has abrasions on has side, and he messed up his left eye. I have added Furan-2 to fight any bacterial infection that might arise. I am feeding Selcon and Garlic enriched food. Any other suggestions?

I really hope so, I haven't dealt with an injury like this in QT. I don't know the success rate of such things, but I hope it is high.

Sigh...

First one I got my yellow tang beat to death
Second one was as big as the yellow tang so it survived and is now in the tank
Third was a female and smaller and I think the yellow coris wrasses and tangs beat it up badly, put it in the sump to heal and she got better, had it in the sump for 5 days, on the day I go to take it out I couldn't find it but I noticed my skimmer working improperly, turns out it ventured into the other chamber of the sump and got sucked into the skimmer it was a very sad day for me

She'll heal well if it eats, it may need to be in QT longer though and would highly recomend removing all tangs from display or it may get beat up like mine did. Good luck.

? I place a little sand in there for the goby, but deep sand bed in QT?

The wrasse needs a deep sand bed to sleep, otherwise it'll keep digging into the glass and could damage its mouth, once the mouth gets damaged it won't eat and then you know what happens next. You can use a bowl filled with sand, hopefully it'll find it. Also don't worry if you don't see it at night, it'll probably be in the sand.

Just fill a tupperware container full of sand from your DT & place it in QT tank. It'll find it quick; & don't be surprised if it doesn't come out for days. The Potters like a sand bed to burrow into when acclimating, to sleep, & when they feel stressed. Wrasse are my favorite fish & Potters is one of the more difficult to keep. You might get some medicated Dr. G's food & see if it'll eat that too. & Prazipro for any possible internal parasites (his belly looks kinda lumpy but that just might be shadow). Good luck w/ the beautiful Potters.

He is showing more activity this afternoon then this morning, but his eye scares me. A deep bowl of sand has been added.

The Dr. G's medicated frozen food will help w/ his eye. I had something similar happen w/ a Coral Beauty a few yrs ago & Dr. G's cleared it up within a week.

Someone is whooping his backside. And why feed something with garlic which is proven to actually suppress appetite along side of supplementing with selcon which is proven to allow an inhabitant to eat more?

I truly believe that the injuries came with the "squeezing" thru a space that was WAY to small. The garlic was added to boost the healing process.

One of the pictures may be falsely portraying this. However I will take a closer look in the morning. Today I only noticed a injured 1st and 2nd dorsal fin. He is currently in a 40B with a starry blenny and a diamond watchman goby. I have watched the tank for some time today with little interaction between the three. The few encounters were un-alarming.

Again I will take a much better look tomorrow, and watch for any aggression. Thanks so much for the comments.

I really hope so, such a great looking fish. Or at least it used to be.
