Reef raft Canada pink cadillac

It's tiny, mostly green so far, but showing signs finally of encrusting

Your colors are awesome! The Siporax really works well doesn't it. I have 15 liters of it in my sump and it helps keep my nitrates around 2 and phosphates at .02 or lower. What salt do you use?

I think siporax is pretty cool as well. I use Marin tropic pro reef salt. I am doubtful that salt has much to do with anything unless it's a bad batch or you are unaware of alk testing your new mixed salt. I started with d-d because a friend used it and his tank was incredible. But it left sludge in my 60 gallon storage container. I used Red Sea pro for a while also. I tried io salt but had to use muriatic acid to reduce alkalinity to 7-8 dKh. Well muriatic acid scares me. So Marin tropic pro reef mixes to around 8 dKh. I was very interested in aqua forest with probiotics but I mix up around 50-60 gallons at a time and unless I did massive water changes, that salt wouldn't work for me. Apparently the aqua forest salt with probiotics needs to be used shortly after mixing.

I appreciate your comments. I think my corals are most definitely really not growing quickly nor for the matter more colored up than the average tank. I have tried to find dramatic colonies and choose frags from those but that's is easier said than done. I have been wrong more than right and certainly better reefkeeping skills would be helpful

Reef Raft USA unnamed--it's slowly getting better coloring

RR Canada Sabertooth--I almost lost it as a new frag, after a couple frag placement moves, it appears to be just settling in now.

Vivid's Rainbow--it looks better under metal halides but I took a bunch of pictures this time with t5's and reefbrites

Reef Raft USA Medusa

Purple dragon eyes--I browned this one out a few months ago with an alk swing but it's coming back pretty nicely

How awesome are those corals:eek1::eek1:
Love every single one of them!!
Thanks, glaukos
They're all beautiful but i love the fox flame one with the fluoro tips, just stunning
Appreciate that you noted my corals and pics.

I thought it would be interesting to share the contrast in a couple of photos between MH/T5 lighting and T5/reefbrite lighting. I like metal halides so that is my preference for viewing. But since there are so many tanks with LEDS or LEDS and T5's, hoped it would be fun to share

T5/reefbrite

I am not much of a photographer so in my experience the t5/reefbrite photos sometimes turn out super blue and other times pretty cool looking and accurate. I try to correct the photos in lightroom to accurately reflect what I see, but if you've tried it, then you know how challenging that can really be.

and then these next photos are just some I took today as well:

RR Asia Biohazard

RR Canada Shazam

Wet Thumbs Mother of Pearl

Plus a few more:

i bought this as RR USA The Vinh, curious to see how it turns out ultimately

RR USA , cool colors

Frag from a wild colony that I have had for a long time. Slow grower and colors looks a bit like RR Canada Shazam but its growth pattern is much different.

RR Asia Inferno

Such an amazing collection, you have.
Just awesome.
The yellow eyed jawbreaker is sublime.
Your thread may be my favorite thread on RC..
Your RR Canada collection may be better than RR Canada's collection!
I know I've asked you this before but it was a while back and you've had significant growth since then.. Not to mention your collection has increase dramatically....
Fts? Maybe? Soon? :)

Just got back from a family vacation so Im sorry that I didn't respond sooner. Thank you so much for the kind words. I really made an effort this year to find some corals that I have wanted for a long time. I made some pilgrimages to some of the holy sites of reefing, Orlando and Toronto while visiting friends and family. Plus southern california is host to many of the best vendors, LFS and hobbyists. Nice to be able to find lots of gems locally.

So I was gone for 10 days and no stn or rtn on my return from vacation--wow. but a couple of frags I had just recently placed on the rock work were not to be found when I got home. Missing were RR USA Rainbow Blossom and RR Canada Lady in Pink. I found the RR USA piece sitting nearby on the rock work and no worse for wear. So I glued it back in place once again. The RR Canada Lady in Pink is gone somewhere in the tank which is so sad because it was hard to locate and costly. I have rambunctious fish and they occasionally knock or break a frag or colony. Oh well.

I thought I would share an unusual acro, locally its called Tat's Psammacora. It is an oldie here although no one seems to have it. It is bright green but all green and hence not much interest in it. Plus it looks similar to hydnophora and nobody likes hydnophora. This is a happy psammacora with pretty good polyp extension for the middle of the day. I have had it for a long time and have to epoxy the base periodically to prevent it from encrusting too much rock. It is in the corner of the tank and I routinely accidentally break branches off doing maintenance. The fallen branches generally drop to an area of the tank that I can't reach and somehow survive but fortunately do not encrust.

Very cool shots!
I hope you find the lady in pink..
I'd love to see how yours turns out. I probably have one from the same source if you got yours in Toronto..

I got the lady in pink from a local vendor here in los angeles and unfortunately it is not to be found.
Great pics on the previous page, everything is looking really good.
thank you

Well I got rid of my polyp nippers, my angels and looks like polyp extension is improving

Reef Raft Canada Shazam

Actually, I cheated a little bit (a lot). I promised a couple of pictures of some colonies to a friend and i didn't get to it until after my lights had been out for an hour. I turned the metal halides and t5's on, and voila, late night, after hours polyp extension.

Mark, your corals are beginning to really hit their stride.
I went back to the first couple pages of your thread to be re amazed by the awesome pieces you had.
This latest shot is beginning to remind me of the first pages of this thread.

Sometimes you don't know what you have, till its gone. This tank had some easy times where everything and anything would grow virtually effortlessly. The problem is I got bored. I am enjoying this phase of introducing new coral and managing it all more closely.

A pretty colony

OMG....
For real, very amazing photography skills, and the corals look so beautiful! Wow, wow, wow.... Simply awesome :)
