Thumbs up for Ozone!

Well I know the skimmer is getting enough air.... what I did was take a piece of 1" pvc, capped both ends, drilled 3 holes in it (two on one side and 1 on the other) put some ridged tubing in the two holes on the same side. Then I attached my skimmer air intake to one side and the ozone injector to the other. I then adjusted the pump to just put enough air in so that I could still feel a little suction from the free hole in the pvc. This way I know that the skimmer is getting enough air, I can also turn off the ozonator and airpump and the skimmer continues to operate as normal.....
 
What is your average ORp? Also whats your average ORp after a waterchange?

I recently did a WC with PRo reef and my Orp dropped hard down to 230 or so . Anyways I am used to a drop during WC's but not a low as it did with the Pro reef. Also since the water change I had to up my o3 unit to 20mghr from 10ish and just now 2 weeks later Orp is back to 380-400. I am going to do another change here soon again and see if history repeats.

I just found it odd....Previous salt was kent before the yellow lettering bucket deal.
 
I'll let you know in a day or so. I h aven't done one in a month because I've been so busy. I need to start again as I don't ever want problems to creep up.
 
I use Pro also. And yes my orp drops to about 220-230 after a WC. Takes a few days to a week to bring it back up. But again, ORP is a tricky beast.
 
Mine were generaly 100 gals on a 300. A bit bigger percentage, but I bet yours would drop to 230 if you did a 25g change?

I dont get as much skimmate, and it doesnt seem as thick, but god does it smell awful.

It's not normal when this pro reef is the only salt I have used that it drops so hard and takes so long to come back up . Like a week plus.

Nothing has changed with my setup except for salt.
 
I hate my ozone!

My water is now so clear I can see every minor scratch in my aquarium!

Seriously though, I have never seen my tank clearer. Overall great investment!

I have noticed the same exact thing with TM Pro Reef. Takes the whole week for the ORP to recover to 375-395 and then its time for another WC. Strange indeed.
 
I have no problem with the orp after my WC.. But I aerate for 24 hours. could that have something to do with it?
 
Ive read part 2 of the ozone article. how is everyone out there handling the discharge water from the skimmer? To minimize ozone exposure and ozone escaping into your house?
 
I do nothing since I am dosing such a low amount; 0.017 mg/hr in my 75. You can stick your head above my skimmer and small nothing. Then again I have about 1000 to 1300 mg/hr running in my house.

My skimmer output does run over some carbon, if I remember to change it.
