I agree... but if he is shutting the ozone down after a small amount of time he is not giving it enough time. I shut mine down also when it dropped, thinking there was a problem. i finally let it run for an hour or so and it started to rise. I doubt he has let the iozone run continuously for 2 weeks

It's been almost 2 weeks and my milwaulkee is still acting dumb.
When I apply ozone orp goes down.
What gives?

Ti, unless your skimmer is rediculously efficient, the ozone is breaking down things, and they are getting into your tank. Big waste is being broken down to small waste, and this is lowering your orp. The good thing is, this smaller waste is easier to skim, so give it a little while, and it'll be cleaner than ever.

mine right now is perfectly dialed in... My deltec skimmer loves the ozone being added. skims more in quantity and quality.. I skim wet and im getting a 1/2 gallon a day of stank skank and my tank is absolutely crystal clear now. ORP 400-425

I have let it run for like an hr before and the orp dropped from 307 to 249.
I would assume by 2 weeks it's all broken in.

I would let it run for several hours. mine behave very similarly. I emailed Randy Farley and he advised not to worry about that change... give it a try. mine also drops from 400 to 335 after I feed and takes quite a while for it to creep bak up. hours!

It;s just throwing me off that orp is going down when ozone is on.
When I feed the orp doesn't really drop.

If you have a seperate controller with another probe, I mean you can try swapping it to see if it is a probe issue.

Try this
Put the probe in pure vinegar and after 20 minutes, it should be right around 550. If not, I'd call them up. They are pretty nice.

Alright, I haven't been keeping up to date on this thread. I also posted a few ahwile ago.

So the situaton is like this:

I smell ozone and its strong. Its enough to make my eyes burn and give me a headache. The attachments are not broken or brittle and the tubings are connected tightly. I have activate carbon on top of the ASM Skimmer Cup and the outflow of water in the sump.

What could be wrong? This is the GEN-X ozonizer.

I was told that someone had a defective and had to get a replacment. There aren't many reviews on this when I did a search.

I also remember reading that it may take a week for the smell to disappear, but I cannot seem to find the post again. So should I keep it on and see whats up? The smell has never been this intense to cause my eyes to hurt or leave a smell on my body/clothing.

I noticed ozone in the air for the first week or so. now i rarely do. Question though, I tested for nitrates after the ozone introduction and have absolute zero now, previously i could read about ppm previouly (salifert) now, zippo... good stuff!! anyone else notice this?

Before I go and purchase an ozonizer...

Questions:

1) Can I just hook it up to the venturi intake of my skimmer, and use ozone safe check valves and fittings to prevent backflow WITHOUT using an airdryer or pump? I read that some people did this and still got good results.

2) If I have 200gal total volume, will a Sander 50mg/hr unit be enough?

3) Is it best to run it through skimmer or reactor??

thanks
G

1-- you could but without the drier the generator is very ineffecient.

2--I have a 250 gal volume system and my 300mg generator runs at about 40 %. so the 50 may be a little on the small side

3-- you must run it thru some sort of reactor
