After approximately 2 years of having a tiger cowrie in our reef aquarium, with researching several times to learn about them and finding only mixed reviews, some saying ok, some saying with caution. Today I caught red handed that cowrie who was eating my SPS.
We had been losing several pieces over the past two years in strange ways that we attributed to other fish possibly picking at, or even unmeasured spikes in water parameters.
We saw patterns of what looked like ATN on some of our SPS. It looked like someone just took an eraser to some of the pieces.
Then today when I saw that dude just sitting on a frag I made, I moved around to look at what he was doing and I could see him rasping away at the coral.
I reached in and moved him off of the coral and it was beautiful SPS with a clear border of white skeleton.
I now know and hope you all may learn from my mistakes, Tiger Cowries are NOT REEF SAFE!
He also ate my zoas too.

I don't know that this is completely new info. Most of what I read when looking into cowries said that the only ones that could be trusted with corals are money cowries.
