Tigertail Cucumber with Special Grade sand?

Quick question - I have a few inches of aragonite "special grade" sand as my substrate in my tank.

I was debating on adding a tigertail cucumber to help keep it clean. Do they need really fine sand or will the special grade sand be OK?

Anyone know?

Ive got 3 cucumbers in my 75 with the oolitic grade sand and they do an amazing job of keeping the sand nice and white. Happy Reefing

That's great - but unfortunately the Special Grade sand is not oolitic. I am looking for input on the seafloor special grade sand.

The grain size is 1mm - 1.7mm

Well I dont know if this helps but a friend of mine also has a few tiger tail cucumbers in his 125 and has a very course sand. From observing his tank the do an excellent job of cleanig and he swears by them. Happy Reefing

My sand is certianly not oolitic, I have mixed grain sizes. My cuke is happy.

Totally fine. I had 2 tigertails with Caribsea fiji Pink sand. Very similar grain size as the special grade.
