Time for BRS group buy?

It's been about 6 months. I can always bulk up my 2 part supplies among other things.

Anyone else need stuff?

You might want to check their sponsor forum on the main board. I recall that they do a monthly RC group by during the early part of each month and that all you need to do is email them to let them know that you want in.

On a related note, I noticed that I had a TON of BRS points on my account the last time that I ordered and when I checked that part of my account it looked like a couple of people that I referred had made some big purchases (thanks, by the way!!!)

This is basically free money for fellow reef geeks that regularly buy from BRS. It would be cool if anyone new that signs up check with some of the guys on the board that have given them advice in the past to work out listing them as a referral.

Works for me, it can be a bit of a PITA to set them up. If there's a free standing group buy on their forum, problem solved.

Wow, it looks like they aren't a sponsor any longer. In which case... I'm in. I have some things that I need to get. Time to get a shopping list together.

If I recall correctly, once you've done a group buy with them once, you're on some sort of VIP list where you automatically get discounts on other orders from them. What's the advantage of doing a group buy if you're already on "the list?"

I am going to need kalk soon. My big tank is going through it at an amazing rate despite the really tiny coral population.

I was thinking sort of it as a courtesy to those who haven't been a part of one previously. Plus, group buy prices are just a bit cheaper than the "perfered" status you achieve once you've been in on a group buy. Thirdly, who ever organizes it (does the leg work filling out the forms and submitting the names) gets 2000 BRS points which is worth $20! I did it once, last time I think Ben did it, so it's a nice perk too if someone wants to take the reigns. We've been doing it about every 6 months.

Nate, I noticed my consumption went up a bit too, but it has coincided with an EXPLOSION of coralline growth. Any chance you're experiencing the same?

That makes sense.

I'm not seeing a ton of coralline growth but I would not be shocked if it was happening. Maybe 80% of my rock is fresh DIY rock so it's devoid of coralline. Something has to be using the stuff up. I've got maybe 8 or 10 stony frags and one or two small colonies, and I'm using a little more than a gallon per day which seems like a lot to me for just a few small pieces. Luckily I've got almost three gallons of evap so I'm still well within being able to meet demand via kalk without having to do 2 part or anything else.

They have a couple of tiers of volume based price reductions. Once you've done a group buy you always get the first tier. During a group buy you get the maximum tier. However, I don't believe that the difference between the two prices will be significant for many items. So, like Cully said, it may be more of a benefit for anyone that hasn't signed up for one yet.
