Looks great. Inspirational!!

Looks great. Inspirational!!

I am doing the same tank Marineland 75, 36x36x18, but not the special order center OF or starfire glass! :sad2:Like yours better, but cannot swing the extra bucks! I think I may go LED fixture to see if I cango a little greener though. I am in the earlier phases. Building the cone skimmer now, sump is done, collecting pieces and starting the stand this week. I keep checking your thread to keep me moving! Inspiration helps keep the ball rolling. Maybe talk to you at the swap and see how it went and look for advice on things you tried and didn'twork so well Kudos!!

It's a long process, that's for sure. Right now I have temporary wood and a ratchet strap to keep the kids out

I'm finally at the point where I can start making some real progress. With any luck, I'm going to try to get things prepped for this weekend (4 day for me since I have a ton left). Hopefully I can get the water ready, sand moved in, and start playing with rockwork. Right now one of the things I'm struggling with is the power situation. I have plenty of Neptune gear, DJ bars, etc... it's a matter of figuring out where to put everything. Kind of odd not having a full basement to work with ;)

I didn't comment on this yesterday because I forgot... but this MSX FX1500 pump is absolutely amazing. It's an Askoll 1500 with a modified front/base. At 5', I have dialed back about 50%, it's only using 48 watts, zero noise, and it's moving a TON of water. It's enough water with one single nozzle parallel with the water surface to keep a lot of the construction debris moving in the water column. Amazing to say the least. I'm a huge fan of Sequence/Reeflo and Panworlds, but this thing is outstanding.

Somebody asked me what the vinyl tube was that t's out from the drain also... That's going to be an auto-siphon starter for cleaning rock, sand, etc. It's not complete but will make more sense later. Think of a python, but powered by your drain instead of faucet ;)

Awww yeah.....

Sand is in, but I still have no clue how much I'm going to use. I have probably 150-200 lbs left over from old tanks PLUS the maybe 75-100 lbs in there. Shooting for 2-3 inches for the leopard wrasse.

I also whipped up a light hanger last night and mounted it today. Nothing fancy at all, but I can go super simple now that this will have just one hanging pendant.

Updates three days in a row... this is madness...

This is what a good quality RO/DI system with applicable booster pump will get you. Empty... then not :) I say it over and over, a key part of all reefs a lot of people try to skimp on. Mine is a custom unit primarily built of parts from BFS.

The side panels are cut as well. I was debating going darker on these than the original grain since they'll be magnetic removal and easier to change down the road, but I almost like the light tone after sizing them. I think I'll stain 3-4 pieces and see which I like the best.

What was your water pressure pre booster pump?

DO you get more out of the membrane then or does it go through it faster? Some say it has less waste?

While I'm no expert there, I have read that the higher pressures will run more efficiently. I've never measured personally.

Tank is looking great Eric! Where is that sweet little Geo skimmer going? In sump?

I'M NOT ANSWERING ANY OF YOUR QUESTIONS STALKER BOY UNTIL YOU TELL ME WHERE YOU HID THE CAMERA IN MY BASEMENT!

  I literally received the thread reply as I was impatiently waiting for my sump downstairs on the fish/coral tank sump to drain so I could move the skimmer ;)

Salt added
GEO Skimmer moved from temp coral/fish setup to main
MSX160 moved from rock to temp coral/fish
Test stained a scrap piece of door panel

I do however have to note that this panworld now sounds like a jet engine in comparison to the silent MSX Askoll. I've seen some silencing mods on RC, so I'll have to track them down. Primarily I believe they remove the fan and replace it with a CPU cooler and DC fan.

Can't decide on a stain color...
