i recently purchased a carpet anemone from the lfs. mostly because i felt sorry for it under there weak lights and because it didnt look so good. for the first couple days it seemed to be turning around health wise but its colour never did come back and now im noticing signs of disinigration. i have to remove him from the tank but is there anything i can do or should i get rid of him and let the poor guy go.

Is your carpet a S. Haddoni? Remove any anemone that is on its way out when they start to fall apart. If you can, try getting an idea of what it smells like by gently rubbing your pointer finger on its disk. You might retain some of the smell on your finger tip. If you an smell something and it smells BAD, then take the dead anemone out.

We all live and learn. I never buy livestock because I feel sorry for them. I only buy them when I know that I can keep them alive. Very hardy anemone like BTA I can buy when they don't look 100%. Other anemones, I would not buy unless they are looking well.
If your anemone start to smell, it is time to take him out.
