Time to Ditch The Seaclone

some people have good luck with those. I myself did not and would not recommend it. A pain to get adjusted and never really pulled out good gunk.

thats a big negative on that skimmer, save your money and get something better! trust me you will save alot of money in the long run. Deltec / Lifereef / DAS / Octopus are some good skimmers just to name a few

I'm gonna go with the 125 just so I don't have to upgrade when I get a bigger tank.

How big is your upgrade? I would barely trust the 125 on your tank (if it's the 45 in your signature). If you're looking for something good on your current setup that's a hang-on, look at the octopus hang on models, or even the deltec. If you're looking for something for a larger tank down the road, I'd still consider the reef-octopus line but not the hang-on models, you'll have to have a sump to get some of the larger skimmers for bigger tanks.

I thought the 125 could go in sump. I don't have one atm but I will be doing a sump/fuge for the 45 soon. In sump is a must, I hate my tank clutter.

Have to wait until christmas stops draining my money though

edit: I'm keeping the 45 for now, but I like to plan ahead for upgrades. My fuge will prolly be at least a 30, for example

My freind used one for his sps 75g and he didn't like it at all. and everyone I talked to said that the octopus skimmers are great.

Take a look at the new vertex skimmers at Premium Aquatics. They are all better than what you are looking at and are affordable.

I Love my D.A.S. Skimmer that i bought at a LFS here in jersey. Cant get any better (DAS = carbon copy of deltec re-circ skimmers)

Seaclone is total junk and a waste of money, made that mistake when I was a newbie, get the best you can afford and save money in the long run.

I had a Prizm for two years, it worked great and pulled out a ton of gunk.
Everyone always dissed it and said its not good and to get a different kind, well I did, I got a Tunze and it pulls hardly anything and its 6 months old. Its the worst skimmer ive ever had, I now wont take advice on skimmers anymore lol
when the Tunze breaks im going back to my Prizm inspite of what everyone says
So get what your gut tells you to get

CoralBeauty, it's really great that your Prism pulled two cups a day, but that is in fact VERY rare. I'd consider yourself very lucky but not to go as far as to reccommend them to others. I've personally owned both (one given with tank, other paid $20) and honestly, they both went out with the trash minus the MaxiJets.

jasonrp104- IMO, I would honestly spend your money on an in-sump skimmer, but if you only plan on upgrading to something under 50 gallons (which is HIGHLY unlikely, trust me) then I would get a Remora. You'll get a few bad apples, but overall people have great success with them and they are very long-lasting. Definatly find a local club or go on craigslist and look for one used, you'll save a ton and there's usually no difference in performance.

Good Luck! :)

I had a SeaClone and it was a piece of junk. I have had several. I just installed a Vertex 100. It was simple to set up and seems to be working. The powerhead broke, but Premium Aquatics was great about replacing the pump. Seems to be a great skimmer at a very reasonable price.

IMO the Coralife line of skimmers are a total waste of money. They are just plain JUNK!!

I wonder if it would pull more than my Tunze DOC lol
