Time to Introduce myself and my project....900 Gallon

Well, I've been looking and researching for some time now. I have read ALOT of treads and seen the projects that some members have done, Cougarman, BennytheBlenny, Nineball and Gimmito (I soon may reach out to you). I have seen some great builds. So here's the 50,000 foot view of my project.

I'm planning a 800-900 gallon (size based on depth, 48" vs 36"), 90" Length 1 x 66" Length 2 x 36" wide x 48" deep. L-shape, 1" Acrylic, 2 closed loop systems, LED Lighting, 180 gallon sump/frag (currently own). Tank and stand to be made by self and friends. Plan to start in January. As I stated, this is the 50K foot view. Plans and drawings to follow soon.

Starting in November, I'm planning to change the floor and take out the fireplace.

I would like to hear others idea's, thought's, lessons learned. My vision is floor to ceiling. I understand the 48" depth issue of cleaning. That leaves 2' stand and 2' canopy. Would I have the room for the plumbing. As for the sump and frag, I plan to go into the garage (other side of wall left side of photo).

Does anyone have plumbing in a 2' stand? Anyone with a 48" deep tank.

Thank you for

welcome to the addiction...
If you are planning a reef, I would stick to something 30-36" deep at MOST..
Remember you need to get into the tank and dont want to don a mask and snorkle to do it..

If you want 'room' for stuff, why not make it remote

What is your plan to extract humidity from the room? This has always been my single biggest reservation to setting up a large tank.

I did think about higher humidity, the fireplace is vented to the outside. I'm planning to test when I do a wet run with the tank. If it becomes an issue I can use that vent or I can also vent to the garage and out. Testing will be crucial.

Ching chai have 48" tall tank and it looks amazing
If I ever do a tank again I will like to have only want 24" or shorter tank since acropora looks better from the top view IMO
And LEDs now can penetrate easily @ 48" with a good par reading @ the bottom of the tank.
