Timer/controller Question

i just picked up a 75 gal and wanted to use at least 1 stream (2 prefered, 6000 perhaps.) Would it be feasible to put a steam each on its own timer to go on and off multiple times alternating during the day opposed to using a multicontroller? My only concern is having too much flow as it will be sps dominated but ssb (still debating dsb.)

The multicontroller is definitely the preferred, it pulses the pumps from low speed to high speed. The timers could be used but I would probably rather get 1 6000 and a 7095 and add the second 6000 later, than to get 2 6000 and wait on the controller.
