Well Steffen came over today and drilled the tank. here are a few shots of the drill. Did a real nice job. Two outlets for the overflow and one at each end of the tank for the return. Not the best pics but leaving it on it's side until everything drys.
The glass on the tank turned out to be pretty thick about 3/4 in thick. Took a long time for him to drill each hole. He did a real professional job on it the the overflow looks great
Anyone else needing a tank drilled O highly recommend Steffen.
Nice to see this project finally moving forward! Looking good. Tim, I haven't seen you at any meetings for a good while, I hope you start attending again soon.
Thanks again Tim for the kind words!!! The back side of the tank was 3/8 think and the bottom was an impressive 1/2 inch thick!!! The holes took me a little longer to drill but the chip break came out great!!! Very pleased on how the whole process went! I cant wait tell me get this tank up and going. Just need to do a little work to the stand so we can fit a nice size 40 gallon breeder and we should be on a roll!!!!
I also enjoyed times 65 gallon reef. It was very health and full of life. The refuge looked so clean and taken care of it should be put on display! Thanks again for everything Tim and hope to see you down with the stand soon!!!!
+1 more!! Steffen always does a great job. I wish I had known him when I was setting up my 90! Tim, looking good "“ can't wait to see it setup completely. See you at the meeting!
another pic of the tank after drilling...now that it's dry I turned it upright and you can see the overflow and returns on each end with bulkheads installed.
Yeah it's kinda been a long time coming. I bought the tank over a year ago and planned to have it setup within a few months but other things have taken priority. The biggest obstacle was the living room where we are going to put the tank. We had carpet in there and have been waiting until now for one reason or another to have tile put in. Also involved moving the current 65g tank(with the help of a couple of club members) out first so they guys could lay the tile. Anywaaaaaaaaaay. Tiles done and we can start making some major moves over the next couple of months.
Not really. Patience is not one of my better attributes but just not much that can be done on this one. I'll get that tank setup eventually and then hopefully it will have been worth the wait.
Tim
Yessssss.....I'm still working on this tank. got in some Reef Saver Rock that I ordered from BRS that appears to be just as good as advertised. This of course is the dry rock not live. Very easy to aqua-scape. Hey, I'll get this tank going this year or else. :bounce3::fish1:
Another pic of the rocks. I just pulled these out of the box and started stacking them. Real easy to do. this is part of a 50lb box and I have 50 more lbs. Should be enough. Again I really like these.
