Hello everyone. I finally got my Tinker's. After waiting for the right one, she is finally here. After waking up this morning and finding my Rhomboid swimming around the tank that was missing for 3 weeks, my Tinker's has arrived. What a great fish day!! It's like Christmas in spring. The fish is acclimating and I will post pics of her later. I have researched the Tinker's throughly, but I want to know people's personal experience with them. I was looking to get a wrought iron but after reading and asking you guys about them, I decided against the wrought because of the need for cooler water temp. So please share your pics of your Tinker's and experiences with this cool fish. Thanks Tim

Here are some early shots of her. I love the way this fish looks. Regards, Tim

ACK!!! No quarantine?! QT serves two big purposes in my mind: 1) obviously, disease control, but 2) (and maybe just as important) ensuring they are taking aquarium conditions and fare. When you just put them in the display with all the other established territorial residents, it is already strike two. All you can do is hope they will pull through. Ah well, good luck.

Gorgeous fish and one I hope to own someday. My lfs had one two years ago for $400.00. It developed a bad case of ich after three days, but recovered and was sold to an out of town guy. Given the cost, I would definitely have quarantined this fish (I do this with all my fish anyway). Just too much to risk. Good luck and post updates from time to time.

I am glad to hear your rhomboid reappeared and I know the Tinkers will be well cared for....Mahalo (Thank you) very much Tim....I would not have a business if it wasnt for customers like you.....Aloha Les @ WPH

Beautiful fish

We've only been able to get larger 5-6in Tinkers.... but we're waiting for a sub 5in specimen to go along with our Declivis.

Had a bit of a problem getting him to eat for some reason but I mixed up a the gel based food that the Waikiki Aquarium uses and he ate right away. If only the PBT would stop being an a**hole. He's doing great though. I highly recommend this gel based food recipe, the fish are crazy for it. Regards, Tim

Hello all. I have been really busy at work, doing the 15 hour days. So the story is of an estate manager in the Hamptons in the summer, but at least i get three months off in the winter. Anyway the Tinker Is doing well. Had a hard time getting him to eat until i fed him the gel based food recipe from the Waikiki Aquarium. He's eating well now. If only the the PBT would give him a break. I had to seperate him for a few days because of how nasty the PBT and the Black tang were towards him. Now they have accepted the Tinker's. Well here are some updated pics of the Tink and his friends. Regards, Tim

The Black is just about 7 1/2". I got him from the same guy I got the Tinker's from. The Black and PBT gave the Tinker's hell. i put up some egg crate for about 4 days and then they still gave him hell. Finally the aggression has subsided for the most part except for the PBT from time to time. I'm happy to see that the Tinker is fighting back, which is a great sign. Regards, Tim

I love copperbands. I would of gotten one but I think they are a bit too passive for my fish. The Tinker's is having a hard enough time getting adjusted. Did you get an Aussie Copperband? If not watch out for internal worms. Do you have pics? Is he eating, and if so what did you get him to feed intially. I had a hard time getting my Tink to eat at first and they are usually easier to feed than most butterflys. Good luck with your new fish!! Tim
