I like a guy who's not afraid to ask!!
What he said.
Looking great, by the way, Paul.
What's your tool of choice for photography and what type of photography do you do?
I'm still using my canon t3i, I have a few lenses but by far my fav for corals is my 100mm f/2.8, but I also have a nice 24-105 f/4L that does a good job with FTSs and such. Other than shooting tanks I like street photography and landscape but I studied commercial and still in school. Hell, I'll shoot bugs in the yard just to take photos.
If you like just random photos, I have a Flickr account I put some photos on.
Cool. I'll check that out. I have the 100mm 2.8. Love the lens. I use it almost exclusively on my top downs.. Beautiful lens. Also have the 24-105. Also a great lens!
If I had more time I'd be shooting more.. I get to shoot my daughter's soccer tournaments sometimes.. Fun to stop the action.. Also love any macro stuff.
Looking forward to more shots of your tank as it grows out!
Yes.. Not the latest generation. I bought a second hand 2.8 and I love it.. But before I got that, I had the70-300 mm 4-5.6 L and it's quite nice as well. Apparently not as sharp as the 70-200 but if you're not making wall sized prints, it's hard to tell the difference.
The extra speed of the 70-200 makes it a little more versatile for indoor shooting, though. And it accepts extension lenses which the 70-300 doesn't ..
I had a quick look of a few of your Bermuda shots. Are the panoramas done with an iPhone or with editing on a computer?
I saw a cool shot you took straight down into the water from a bridge or something. There's some seaweed growing off the wall at the bottom and a school of fish moving in from the upper right.. It looks like a painted mural on a wall.. Very cool.
A long overdue update! (from a couple of weeks ago)
Well, it's been awhile since my last update, and since it's been a rainy weekend I decided to pull out my gear. Tank is doing pretty good, still knocking out the last of the bryopsis and only have a small patch or two left. Picked up a one-spot foxface and he rather enjoys the stuff. Other than that I really haven't added much to the tank, been buying lenses instead. And you thought reefing was an expensive hobby.
Photobomb.....
I shut the pumps off for a FTS, that's why the water looks low.
A quick one of the nem that just keeps splitting..... *sigh*
And a few corals. Colors are great!
That's it for now, was fun shooting the tank again, it's been too long.
Well the reef is doing just fine, still really haven't bought much coral for it but the ones i do have are doing just fine. I did have a snafu a few weeks ago from me being lazy, the skimmer overflowed back into the sump, which caused the skimmer to overflow even more turning the sump into a giant foamy mess. Tank looked like crap for about a week. I ended up with a few burnt tips on some of the coral. I just ended up tearing down the sump, cleaning everything (it was due anyway) and doing about a 50% WC. I can't remember if I passed this along or now, but after fighting 2 years I'm happy to say I'm bryopsis free.
Got a few shots in today as well, didn't do a FTS as we have all the xmas stuff all over the place and the wife would have a melt down if I posted a pic of the mess.
