tiny white worm like things on acro tips

My buddy has a rockin' reef tank. Excellent color and outrageous growth. I was taking some macro shots of his fine corals and I noticed the tips of this one frag of GARF bonsai had more than polyps going on. The small things on the tips don't appear to crawl around but twist and curl in place slowly. They look most like small worms to me, and not flatworms or redbugs (had plenty of first hand experience with both of those).

I believe I've seen pics of these here before but can't remember what they are or whether one should treat for them. Anybody know?

Looks like the forming of Mesenterial Filaments to me.

Not totally sure what all the causes are, as I've read several different theories.

I have several SPS that constantly shoot out these little snot strings just about everytime I heavily feed my tank. Some SPS are really heavily covered with strings, others have very little but it always seems to be the same SPS that react each time. It all seems to go away within an hour.

Others report that it is caused by stress.

Who knows, maybe I'm stessing out my SPS feeding my tank.

When I feed I see them on the acros, also if I bump a coral when I'm doing maintenance the next few days it will sometimes have them out, I'm assuming for healing.

I think they also use them to sting other corals or clean a surface they are about to encrust on.

I am familiar with mesentery filaments / acontia. These could be those forming. I'll have to invite myself over to my bud's and see if they're still there.

Next time I notice the filaments on my own corals I'll try to get my macro lens out and compare.
