Anyone ever seen tiny little yellow bugs? I have them on my purple w/ green polyp acro and a tricolor acro but not on any other acro's or corals... Any idea's of what these little guys are good :) or :uzi:bad? Too small to get a picture of them. Thank you!

The only tiny yellow bugs we've gotten are "red bugs" (even though they are called red, they mostly look yellow to me)... which are parasitic, mostly just eats acros... and particularly favor tricolors.

If so they are red bugs.

You may only see them on a few acro's but they are probably on more of them. The best method of treatment is treating the WHOLE tank with Interceptor.

I have only a couple of frags of acro so not a huge deal. I will keep a close eye on them though. Thanks for the help!! I did dip them in coral rx for 10 min so hopefully that will help? If not i will look into the interceptor! Why do they call them Red bugs if they are yellow... :hmm6:

They vary in color, generally being red. The ones I had were yellow with red heads. They are like little coral fleas.

+1 for whole tank interceptor treatment.

If you have them on any coral, they are already loose in the tank. The only way to avoid a "whole tank treatment" is to remove ALL of your acros for 6+ weeks so the red bugs all starve out in your display. You would still need to treat your acros with interceptor though, but at least you wont kill your shrimp/stars/crabs/etc that way.

Interceptor treatment of the tank does not always equal death to inverts. I did not loose any when I treated. Infact my peps came out from hiding and swayed during most of the treatment time. There are many others that have also reported nothing being harmed. It seems like it is more of a possibility and not a guarrenteed thing.

The bottom of our tank was COVERED with dead serpent stars (literally hundreds) after we treated. Hit or miss I guess.
