Well.. First time EVER aquascaping.. I had a very minimalist look before got another 30 lbs of dry rock and tried to aquascape it again.. idk if I like it can you guys give me some advice or suggestions? Here is before and after .. it was hard using 3 different types of rocks, live rock, big dry rock and Florida dry rock from reef cleaners. I think I like the right side better than the left..

Any particular reason why a most folks use a black background? I can't tell if its maybe even the lights that make it look blue? I was thinking of doing a blue background to be different can cause I like the color. lol

ok thanks for your input. I just tried a sheet of blue painted plexy to the back of my glass tank and it doesn't seem to bad. It adheres itself to the glass itself cause of the charge. lol If it works I can change it later to black easy if I want to. I maybe find some gorilla tape just to be sure it stays there tho.

ah OK mine was light blue but I could change to different if it makes sense the acrylic idea is nice to be able to tweak color without hosing around with the actual tank too much.

Just posted a thread but i wanted to get some help on aquascaping my tank.

I cant quite get my Aquascape right for my tank. It is a 60 cube and i have tried a few things.

Maybe i don't have enough negative space(sand) What do you all think? any ideas. I want to get my aquascape down before i start placing the corals.

Are you sure the blue tint your looking to achieve is the background color and not the light spectrum? Most of the tanks are running Actinic Blue light. The background wont really give your tank the blue look.
Krylon Patriotic Blue spray paint is the color that matches most manufacturers blue backgrounds

I redesigned my landscape yesterday. Found out that I need more LR, so back to the LFS next week when I have the funds. ( got a HOB Eshopps skimmer) Im going to make a 2nd island on the right side and add some more height to the right side.

My tank is a 60gal tall and it only has a depth of 15" and 48" long. I need a tank with more depth perception. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic and supplies next to the tank

Since my 60g buildIve since upgraded to a 150g XT with a 40g sump. This time I shot for a lagoon style aquascape. I am still up in the air and thinking of going to a stepped island on the left going up to 10" from the top and a curved island on the right but stopping around 15" from the top

Should i keep the lagoon?

Me personally this looks really good as it is. I am no expert of course.

So this is my first shot with the new rock I got. I sort of like this just cause it stuck it together without any glue just gravity and I did it out of the pieces I had. hehe.. but it has a cool arch. duno.. I would of course permanently bond it if I went with something like this probably add a bit more small pieces around it.
