Great thread, here is my old 150 cube from years ago. I plan to use a lot of this rock with the addition of some Pukani rock to rebuild/restart my 300DD project.

I was thinking of something like this. Not 100% on the placement of the 1st group of rocks. May switch the angle. This is the angle you will be viewing the tank from the couch. Any thoughts?

Wow this is almost a replica of my own! Pic attached, although an update is needed as i've now added more SPS and moved the big finger coral, and the sandbed is clear down the middle :)

My photos never look right, what I see is never what I get. I simply cannot get the colour balance right.

There is always too much blue and even with software I can't get it to look at all like what I see sitting in front of my tank.

Any help or advice welcome.

I'm not in any way familiar with aquarium photography but I remember Than Thien of Tidal Gardens have a two part YouTube video regarding how to shoot and then balance the image to show a true and enhanced version of the image. Here's the link to the first video, you can find part2 from there. Hope this helps. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McneJvCWmf8

Lot of really nice ones here. I am looking to do something nice for my sons reefer 170 anyone have a tank like the 170 with great pics to help me out?

Thoughts?

Yes, definitely move the yamaha to the right, it will hide work table clutter...:p

Seriously looks cool but very minimal, but that may be what you are shooting for.
Personally I would add a little more rock and go up, have more varied elevations, but it still looks just fine as is.
