yeah i had to just wait it out with mine. they would swim over it but never touch and finally bam they never leave. at one point one of my clowns layed so dang still in the nem i though it was dead..haha.
I actually coaxed my last perculas with a large net, and then trapped them over the anemone. They took to it in 2 minutes and never left. I've had clownfish in a tank with a BTA for a couple months and one day they random decided to dive in and never left.
I had better success with natural hosts. I had a pair of TR ocellaris who refused a BTA and a Haddoni carpet for weeks. They even preferred my algae magnet over those anemones. Within 30 seconds of introducing a gigantea carpet, it was clear they were interested. 5-10 minutes later they were in shag heaven.
I see lots of LFS keep nems in baskets with clownfish trapped until they host. Not my preference but it must be working for them.
I would strongly advise against trying to force any clown to be hosted -- there is a good chance that the clown will be eaten. That chance is lessened a bit because E. quadricolors sting isn't the strongest, but there is still a chance.
