Tips on Gluing Smaller Diameter PVC?

Hi Everybody,

I am about to begin putting together the plumbing for my reef tank and noticed that the brush end of the PVC glue I got is rather large in comparison to the smaller diameter fittings (1/2") I am planning to use. It looks like it will cause a lot of excess primer/glue to glob over when I swipe the inside of the fittings with the brush.

Any tips on how to not make a giant mess of my fittings on the smaller diameter pieces? Not the end of the world if it drips, but I figured I'd run it by those who have done this before.

Thanks!

While not the best practice at the pressure we run stuff on our fish tanks just glueing one side is plenty strong enough.

A small can with small brush, applying glue to just one side, and use a paper towel (actually, a bunch of them) to wipe the fittings on the outside. I prefer the medium duty because it dries clear.
