Tips on good photos with iPhone

Part of the reason that I do not update my build thread regularly is a lack of quality photos. Right now, my camera is my iPhone 6s.

What are some tips/tricks/methods to get good tank, coral and fish shots (both close ups and FTS) with an iPhone?

Thanks.

Pose this in the Photography forum - there should be a bunch of threads on this already. Most of it has to do with nailing down your white balance.

What problems are you having? Full tank shots or close ups? Corals or fish?

If all of your photos have that ghastly blue (Windex) look, the first thing to try would be to experiment with your Radion's color control ability and reduce the blues temporarily while taking the photos.

Clean glass and pressing the phone flat against the glass are two tips. Pics with flashes rarely work out well. So fast moving fish will often be blurry, especially on a close up shot.

I can get acceptable photos on an iPhone 6 with a 6 tube T5 fixture, with 3 blue ATI tunes. But they'll never come close to a full featured camera where you can set your own parameters like white balance, especially one with a macro lens.

Most of the threads I've read there have to do with folks with DSLR cameras..."real" cameras, so to speak. I might have to just invest in an actual camera.

I am having trouble with all of those...FTS, closeups, corals and fish.

I will try what you suggest with the Radions; I can easily turn them very white and bright for photos.

Obviously, I cannot have the phone flat against the glass for a full tank shot. In that case, I step away, and I've tried with overhead lights on and off to no avail. Maybe I need to mess with the Radions more while having the overhead lights on...what tends to happen is that I get glare off the glass which ruins the shots.

Maybe, the true answer is to get a real camera for good photos.

I don't think that's true, I've seen plenty of people post good tank shots with iphones. I'm tagging along as my wife has an iphone6, but pictures have come out no better than my LG G4.

I have the iphone 6 which makes for alright photos but the 4k video and picture quality of the 6s (which my friend has) takes amazing video and photos of my tank. crisp clear and the zoom is even more detailed. not surw why your having trouble with it maybe if you have a case on your phone its disrupting the image??
