To Catch a Wrasse

I need to get a wrasse out of my 240. Any suggestions other than ":uzi:"? I've had a net sitting in the tank for 2 days so he'd get used to it, and i've been trying floaty flake food around the net hoping to snag him but i'm not having any luck. :rolleye1:
Thanks!

no, i don't have one. think i should invest? do they really work? even for really skittish fish? my blenny and hawk hang out in the net, but the wrasse won't go near it.

The DIY 2 or 3 liter bottle fish trap has always worked for me except in heavily stocked cichlid tanks. It's free and very quick to make.

Just cut the top so the hole is big enough for the fish, then cut the remainder in two just below the bottleneck, and reverse this part into the bottom. Poke a few holes so water can circulate, put in a small rock so it stays put on the bottom, and put some food in. It works best if you don't feed for a day or three before.

EDIT: here's a video if that didn't make sense:

Kinda bulky or smaller tanks but should be fine in larger tanks. I've had great success catching more than I want at times. :)

wow, great! i'm going to try mac's idea first i think. i love the free Martha-Stewart-ness of it. then randy, if you don't mind, can i borrow your trap? and if neither work, i'm going to try the hook! from now on, i promise to plan more carefully what i put in the tank...thanks guys.

Ewww, please do NOT use my name in connection with Martha Stewart!!! Think MacGyver!!!! :)

Just be sure to keep an eye out - I often catch much more than I had intended!!!
