to feed or not to feed...

After patiently waiting for my tank to age(one year this month) I finally bought my first clam(2 weeks ago). It's a "gold" maxima approximately 3 inches long and so far it's settled into the tank nicely. I'm finding a lot of conflicting info on whether clams need target feeding or not. Anyone got any opinions or suggestions on the subject? Thanx.

i don't think you need to target feed, as long as you put food int eh tank he will filter it out.

I'm by no means an expert on clams as i just got my first one 2 weeks ago. Mine is also 3" or so but is a crocea. I have been adding a capful or 2 of DT's every 2-3 days and the clams doing great!!!

impur we feed our crocea the same size the DT's also and if you read the label it says if you have clams to use 2x the amount of DT's..we have a 20g and feed 10ml on your same schedule 10 mins before lights out turn skimmer off and then lights off and 1/2 hour later or so skimmer back on the clam gets full feeding along with everything else in the tank that willl benefit from it

Hmmm it had occured to me that the DT's dissipated pretty quickly. I'll up the dosage tonight!! Thanks for the heads up.
