To many fish for QT tank?

So I have 7 small clowns and 2 small tangs would they be ok to be in a copper tank together even if only 55 gallons? Or should I put the tangs in the 55 and the clowns in another 40 or something? My fish have ich and maybe thread worm. Any help would be great! Thanks :)!!

I personally think that would be fine for quarantine, heck half the new guys starting out would have that and then some in their 55 gallon display! Lol (Not a good idea) What kind of tangs are they? Id just make sure those two are playing nice together. Hope your fish get better soon!

Ok awesome, thanks. I have a yellow tang and a blue hippo , they get along fine in the DT every now and then the yellow one will chase the blue one but one for a sec or two.

Is a hob filter from petco enough?
I planed on having one of those then a heater ,powerhead or two, bubbler and pvc so the fish can hide in? Then water changes every other day or so.
But do I need to seed a sponge first? Or can I just use water from the DT? trying to set up today if I can.

Can you give some more info about your plan? There are some diff ways to treat diseases so it is hard to say without knowing what you're trying to do.

Assuming that you are removing all the fish from the DT into a 55g hospital tank, and leaving the DT fallow for 72 days to rid it of ich, I think the 55 will get crowded. Squeezing fish together for a few days for TTM is diff from housing them for months, cause they will have a chance to establish territory and fight over it. But I'm not sure how big a tank you would even need to house 7 clowns properly, it's not common to see so many together.

i need more coffee. when i read this, i was picturing a tank made of copper with all of these fish in it and thought SPAMMER!

Haha no not a spammer. My plan was to leave them in the 55 gallon for 8 weeks and treat copper for 4 weeks and then watch them for four weeks. But today I noticed white spots on my blue tang, they are big circles but not complety white I'm thinking its a fungi, also a Few clowns have weird bumps on their first strip so now I'm think metroplex and focus instead of copper? But then can I still leave my inverts in the DT and not dose?

Well I could do the one tang and some clowns in the 55 and then the others in a 40? But I don't want to have two copper tanks if I end up dosing copper. Could I de-contaminate the 40?

so i freshwater dipped all my fish for 5 mins and then put them into my new Qt that has been running only overnight, but i put stability in there and prime i also put a sponge so that will help. i dosed malachite green about 5 1/2 caps (55ml) im waiting 24 hours then doing a water change. but will this really kill brooklynella or velvet?
thanks for all yalls help

i also plan on doseing copper afrer, i get my other 3 fish on wednesday making the 7 clowns but should i call where i getting them from and them to push it back untill after the 10 weeks and them they will have the QT all to themsefls? i plan on doseing copper at .25 for 14 days, i read thats the same as .5 for 7 just easier on the fish.

so should i wait to get the fish untill after the 10 weeks? or just let them come on wednesday and treat them with copper with the rest? im going to be doseiing them with copper either way just now get it out of the way.

I'm surprised you haven't gotten more feedback on this, but then again I've also learned that one good answer is better than a lot of well-intentioned bad advice. That's why I don't really weigh in on disease stuff, there are a lot of interactions and variables so I leave it to the experts. Here's a link to the fish disease subforum http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=87 the reefers that post in there really know their stuff, so you might try running your questions by them.

One thing I do know, you can't dose Prime with copper! Since that's toxic, you'll probs need to rework the plan a bit with help from the disease pros in the subforum. Good luck :)

Ok great thanks I'll check it out. And yea I called seachem and they explained everything I'll dose with prime from a couple of days and then ease off and see how my ammonia is, today I tested after about an hour of the fish being in there and ammonia 0 nitrites 0 nitrates 1 ph 8.2ish salt at .025

Since you already have a bunch of sick fish, waiting before getting more fish makes sense to me. For sure you wouldn't want to put them in a tank with fish you already know have problems.
