To much flow for SPS?

I am setting up my new tank and I installed the closed loop yesturday and tested it today, what I saw was that the flow I had in this tank was ridiculous, its a 36x36x17 cube with a dolphin 6500/7500 pump on it, so thats an 85 gallon tank with about 5 or 6 thousand gph of water going through it. Very terbulant.

Any ideas on if there is such a thing as to much flow?

I believe that there is no such thing as too much flow as long as the flow is not concentrated like the flow from maxijet powerheads.

Laakman: I dont think thatll be too much flow, if directed properly. I've got 9500 going through my 90g.

Make the outputs large, so the flow is dispersed (1" or more), and dont point the outlets directly at any coral (have them blow across the tank).

I would go for mass water flow to get water moving in a circular fashion in the aquarium. The corals will feel more at home and the turbulence will be cut a little. Here is a link to a great article on flow. The best I've ever read
