steve, since i know you don't get pm's, i would like to thank you for all of your help with my kole tang. i was frantic thinking he had ich but after consulting with you and being told it was likely lympho and i should use selcon/vitachem, i did just that and i am happy to report that he has lost all but one spot. the remaining spot on his tail fin is getting smaller by the day.

he's a great fish! before i put him in my dt last weekend, i had been thinking about taking out my power heads and giving them a good cleaning. i'm glad i didn't as he has done it for me and they look brand spankin' new! he is grazing constantly, only stops long enough to come to the front glass when he sees me coming with the syringe. he's the first one there to grab the food out of the end.

thanks again for all of your help!!! :)

This is what I love about this hobby. Reefers helping each other out. Rather than biting someones head off and telling them something that they are doing is wrong you can help them find a solution to the problem.

Keep it up snorvich

Always a pleasure, and I am happy you are enjoying your fish!

i've been looking at other fish to go into qt once the red velvet wrasse is in my dt. i've decided to keep whatever i select on the small side as the tang, while he isn't the most colorful fish in the ocean, has certainly become my centerpiece!

This is what I love about this hobby.

same for me and every time i see somebody ignore the advice of the experts i think to myself...oy!

steve is my hero. i think he should be reefer of the month every month. :D

where were you 30 years ago when i made every mistake that could possibly be made? :p

I agree, Steve is a wealth of information & the help is greatly appreciated. I want to know when he's going to start doing onsite help. I'm right by ORD & Harry Carays is down the street for lunch & beer.

I have always received great advice from Steve. I don't bother him as much because he has so many people that go to him.

Maybe he should write a book.

hrrmmm...if you're in chicago and steve is near you, that means he's only 3 hours from me. oh the possibilities!!! :bounce2:

steve, you should think about coming down for the big MA '14 party in september. we have sooooo much funz! i'll be posting a thread in the lounge sometime in the next couple of weeks with more details. ;)

Nina I think we need to start working on him. Even if he's not by me, I will gladly arrange transportation from the airport & to your house if you have cold beer :)

What is this big MA party you speak of? I'm in the SW suburbs & it would be fun to meet & chat with other people in the hobby. My friend's eyes glaze over when I talk to her husband about fish. I start volunteering at the Shedd this weekend so I can learn more about the hobby.

ha! IF i have cold beer? i'm thinking in september i'mma gonna get the biggest dumpster i can find and fill it with ice. that should hold most of the beer that is consumed over a 4-day period at MA (Marshmallow Acres) parties. and there could even be some dumpster diving tricks. i hear johnike is pretty good at diving for beer. hehe ;)

this year's get together begins september 25 and ends the 28th or however long people decide to stay. this will be the 6th (or maybe 7th?) year. it started out small, with just johnike and a couple of other loungers and it has grown by leaps and bounds over the years. last year, we had some real travelers...fat tony (jason) from new york, laugh (ben) from ohio, aliie from georgia, newtophish (richard) has been here several years in a row.

i hate to start naming people because i hate to leave anybody out...

we smoke prime rib/pork roasts, everybody pitches in and we have a blast! sunday morning i cook an entire breakfast over the campfire. copious amounts of bacon, dozens of eggs, loaves of texas toast, cinnamon rolls, cheesy potatoes and cowboy coffee you can float a pistol in. ;)

watch the lounge for the MA '14 party goers to check in. ;)

eta: i should add, i live in the middle of the outer edge of nowhere so there is a prize for new people who can find my place w/o having to call for directions.

eta: page after page after page of last year's fun!

That sounds like a blast Nina, I'll check the lounge for an update one of these days.

My horse is in Beecher where I think Jesus might have lost a pair of sandals so I'm up for the challenge to find your place :)

haha, sounds like a plan! but i'll warn you, jason and ben got as close as turning into the lane that leads to my house and turned back around 'cause they decided nobody could possibly live back THERE! ;)
