Toadstool attachment?

I have a toadstool that a buddy of mine pulled off of a piece of live rock for me. I have had it in my sump sitting in a cup over a frag plate for a few days with the sump light on. How long does it usually take them to reattach to something? At this point he has just curled his base up and doesn't look to be interrelated in attaching to anything.

Is their anything that could be done to help along this process? Anything I am doing wrong? I want him on a frag plate so I can take him out easily to frag as he gets larger.

It may take a good while like that. I always push a toothpick through it's base and then gently rubber band the toothpick ends to the rock I want it to attach to. In a couple of weeks it's good to go. I just snip the rubber band and clip off the ends of the toothpick and mount the rock where I want it to be.

So you would leave part of the toothpick that's inside the stem there forever?

I tried just setting the glass I have it all in into the display tank but it slipped out of my grabber and fragged a Duncan, flipped a rock of zoanthids over, and landed flat on an acan. I now have it tooth picked and rubber banded to the frag plate.

Since it's been off of the rock for a few days you should be able to just superglue it to a new rock.

Is superglue the best thing to use on a toadstool?

Either way, I already have it stuck and banded down.

Make SURE it is the gel super glue. Less is more when using it. If too much is used it will detach from whatever you put it to. The tooth pick with a rubber band method works 90% of the time

Ok, so when I went to mount it with the toothpick their was a part of the foot that had fell off. Now I have it mounted and it is drooping pretty bad. Is that normal? Some of the polyps are coming out but not like it was yesterday. Anything to worry about?

By the way, I love the photo in your avatar Dmorty217. I have a Red Sea also and it is boss of my tank.

Here is how it is right now. I have it sitting on this frag plate in a low flow area of my tank. The toothpick just ended up cutting more of the foot off.

I wouldn't worry about it, they don't actually have a foot. In fact if it detaches and leaves part of the "foot" that will continue to grow. Give it time to attach. Also, if you have the patience, a toadstool will split on its own. I currently have 3 in my tank that I just helped split.

I'd say a couple of weeks, I never really timed it. All mine are on LR. I kind of place or wedge it there and before you know it, its attached.

It will attach in a couple of weeks. Sometimes I will just wedge one inbetween rocks and it will attach to a couple of them. When you pull it apart any little pieces that stick to another rock will also grow a new one. Mine seem to get droopy like that every 2-3 weeks for a day or two. Then they perk back up and grow taller.

Yeah, that's kinda what it's doing now. As soon as I know it's attached I want to move it into some better flow in the tank, but I can see where it attaching now.
