Toadstool Mushroom Leather

I have I toadstool leather and a over a month ago I cut the head off and frag it. The mother stalk is still on the rock and sticking straight up but after a month it still has not shown any polyps

my tank readings are
Calcium 400
KH 12
Magnesium 875
Phosphates .0
Ammonia 0
Nitrate 20
Nitrite 0
PH 8.4
Salt 1.024
Temp 79

It can take a while for Polyps to shpw back up. In my past experiences the new head at least starts taking off first, then the polyps show up. There has only been one occasion that I saw polyps before a new head\crown started showing, and this was after several months. Again this is just my exp, others may have seen different results.

I frag my toad stool all the time by cutting the entire head off, but like a donut leaving the top of the crown in place the same Diameter as the stalk. That way you will get polyp extension in a few days. The way you cut it off it will come back but it can take weeks or longer. Lowering the nitrate with a water change will help, IMO mag and alk are not that important for you since you have all softies. I would also check with another test kit to verify your readings. Hope this helps

Agree with oldreefer76. Do you keep those parameters consistent?

Thank You stable nsw parameters are required for any coral which means calcium around 400 alk 8 to 9 dkh and mag around 1300 I do not understand why people think softies will tolerate less than nsw standards, softies will tolerate dirtier water but still need stable water parameters

This is what am trying to do, a coupe of test I didn't have (Magnesium,Calcium and KH) and have been taking it to a local saltwater store here. But after getting my test kits I see it didn't match what they were telling me. Im trying to get the tank in line down. Did test yesterday

Calcium 400
KH 13
Phosphates .5
Ammonia 0
Nitrate 5.0
Nitrite 0
PH 8.4
Salt 1.024
Temp 79
Magnesium 1500

Do you leave the coral in the tank when cutting it or take it out? If you leave it in will it release bad stuff into the tank? My toadstool is attached to a rock that I can't move from the tank is the reason I ask. Its in a little 24 gallon tank so a little bad stuff goes a long way!
