My toadstool has been closed up for around 3 weeks with no extention . Looking at it its seems to be gray in color . It is standing tall . All testable levels are normal . Its my understanding that they can close up for several weeks .
I'm starting to get concerned .
Are you SURE your salinity is correct?? I have a toadstool that was doing the same thing and also another leather I have was not looking good (no polyp extension at all for a long period of time) I thought this was strange because its never done this for such a long time before so I knew something was up.
I've got a refractometer and when I took a reading it read 1.025 but something told me I need to make sure its correct. There is a public aquarium within walking distance so I thought I'd go over there and see if I could talk one of thier keepers to take a look at it. Sure enough, salinity was off by .07 The aquarium calibrated it for me. I then raised my salinity to where it should be and about the same time low and behold my polyp extension on my leathers came out and have stayed out!!! Over the years I have noticed that on the first signs of trouble with the tank the leathers are the first to tell you something is up. SPS will just crap out on you all together.
I'm not saying this is it but I'd tripple check your salinity.
