They closed up about two weeks ago and have not opened since...i know they do things in their own way but how does one tell if they have died??? they seem to bit kinda hardish and not really as full as they once were... all levels and flow is fine...frogspawn, xenia and everything else seek ok, just my toadstools....:help: please

if it turns black its dead, check your ph as mentioned, also have you tested for ammonia?

One of my 2 toadstools has been closed for the last week. These things are tempermental. I'm not going to worry for now...

It's the Phosguard. Softies don't like it. I've had the same thing happen in my tank and it's been documented with that product. SeaChem even mentions it in the detailed product info on their website. They seem to try to dispel it, but so many people have experienced this is it's hard to dispute.

This isn't an idictment of SeaChem-- they make many great products, but if you are looking for a Phosphate reduction method, you might instead consider setting up a reactor with GFO media for Phosphate reduction.

great...that explains alot in the tank...even my other mushrooms look like hell... so now what??? going to clean the reactor...fill with charcoal and hope that helps...any other suggestions!!!!!!
